Emergency Planning Webinar Well Received

December, 2015

Last month School-links hosted its first webinar themed around emergency procedures and communications planning in New Zealand schools.

Andrew Balfour, Managing Director of School-links, shared some of the lesser known challenges schools face when tackling an emergency and how best to respond. Examples of how Kiwi schools faced several different emergency scenarios in the past few years were also discussed.

The webinar was well received and had a varied attendance of education professionals throughout New Zealand. In follow up conversations, some attendees mentioned that they had already implemented some of the practices into their own procedures.

Because it is such a busy time of year for schools with end of year activities and ceremonies, we have also made a recording of the webinar, available for viewing any time. Click here to access it now.

What you don’t know about Emergency Response Planning

November, 2015

There are many government emergency planning resources available for schools and early childhood centres. Few include the practical lessons learnt by school leaders and early childhood centre managers that have overseen a genuine emergency response.

As an innovator in the field of Emergency Response communication tools, School-links has acquired a wealth of insight from partner schools that have survived earthquakes, weather events and lockdowns.

In this webinar School-links shares some of the lesser known challenges you will face when tackling an emergency and how best to respond, from the horse’s mouth – those schools that have been faced with an emergency scenario.

  • An opportunity to ask questions
  • An emergency response checklist (slightly different from that of the Ministry)
  • A list of further resources
